At Caistor Yarborough Academy we constantly strive to give our students as many opportunities as possible to try new things and to give them the best chance for future success. With this in mind we are excited to launch PiXL Edge with our year 7 & 8 students.

The aim of this programme is to develop and accredit students with those personal skills essential for employability and life.

The Edge gives students an opportunity to develop 5 key attributes:

  • Leadership
  • Organisation
  • Resilience
  • Initiative
  • Communication

It also provides students with the opportunity to make themselves more attractive to further education and future employers and helps celebrate achievements made both in and out of school.

How it will work here at Caistor Yarborough Academy.

To achieve PiXL Apprentice Level students will have to attain 10 credits over the 5 key attributes, completing activities both in and out of school.

Examples of Activities

  • Take responsibility for teaching an element of a school lesson.
  • Organise and run a stall at the school Summer Fayre.
  • Complete an accelerated reader programme.
  • Become a 'Buddy' and support students who are joining the school next year.
  • Present your views about an issue that is important to you during Tutor time.

There are hundreds of activities to choose from, so every student should be able to select a programme that is relevant to them.

Once the PiXL Apprentice Level is complete, students will receive a nationally recognised certificate & badge and will then have the opportunity to work towards their PiXL Graduate.
